Abstract :
A 100 MW advanced Pierce gun is described that was built for a 34.3 GHz magnicon amplifier. The gun has a computed beam diameter of ~0.9 mm when matched into a 13 kG magnetic field. The diameter of the cathode is 50 min. Hence, the beam area compression ratio is ~3000:1
