Abstract :
Archaeological line drawings are archaeological contour, which can reflect the spatial information of cultural relics visually and intuitively. It is the foundation of the later repair and research work. But until now a large number of archaeological line drawing generation works still depend on the traditional manual style. To satisfy the needs of the line drawings generated works on archaeological excavations, computer is used to generate line drawings automatic, which improves cartographic efficiency and reduce the workload of the archeologists. But the existing contour line extraction algorithm such as traversal either based on edge or surface detection algorithm, although can quickly get the contour line of 3D models, cannot be directly used in cultural relic´s area. The paper analyses the current algorithm on 3D model´s contour detection area and the characteristic of cultural relics, composing a pre process forms a cultural relic line drawings generation algorithm based on explicit ridge line. This method first preprocesses the relic model, and then extracts its contour. When view change, it needn´t extract again. It solves the line interrupted and visible problem in the process of contour drawing, and it has good performance in the relic work such as terracotta warriors´ line drawings.
