Abstract :
We evaluate the performance of adaptive beamforming using uniform circular antenna arrays for wireless CDMA systems. Two types of uniform circular array systems are considered: phased arrays and diversity arrays. For a phased array, the circle of radius of the uniform circular array (UCA) is less than one half wavelength; for a diversity array, the circle of radius is greater than one half wavelength. The adaptive beamforming performance is evaluated based on bit-error-rate (BER) simulation. The effects of angle spread and the distribution of user´s location are considered for both AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
