Abstract :
In this paper, according to the mathematical formula, the simulation model of solar panel is built in Matlab firstly, and the effects of the temperature and light intensity on its output characteristics are analyzed. Then, the basic principle of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) with traditional incremental conductance (IncCond) method is described, and on this basis a novel variable step IncCond method is proposed, and its control rules and flow chart are given. Finally, based on the simulation model of the solar power system, the performances of traditional IncCond method and proposed variable step IncCond method are compared. Simulation results show that the proposed method has higher tracking accuracy, better steady-state performance and low sensitivity to changes of illumination, and the output characteristics of the solar power system can be optimized effectively.
