  • Abstract
Increased dependency of the human society on the Electrical Energy, demands extra provision for sophisticated monitoring and control. The Monitoring of the Electrical System involves observing whether all the electrical parameters like voltage, power, current are within the scheduled limits or not and the Controlling of the Electrical System involves the necessary actions that are to be taken if the electrical parameters are not within the scheduled limits. Hence we require a system in which the data like Voltage, Power, and Current are continuously measured and is sent to a control center where the monitoring of the data is made with minimum human intervention. The above said system can be otherwise named as SMARTGRID, having sophisticated M2M Communication as its key feature. In this paper, we have studied and analyzed the need for transforming the Conventional Grid into the Smart Grid and the various limitations that the evolutionary phase of the Smart Grid is facing. We have then concentrated on the Communication Standards in the Smart Grid Operation and then developed a prototype involving transfer of measured value from one machine to the other machine.
