Abstract :
Power saving is the major issue in the present scenario of 4th generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless communication. The usage of User Equipment (UE) for the real time applications in LTE network causes an excessive power consumption. The real time application that deals with high data rate processing in the UE drains the battery power quickly. The Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mechanisms of 4G LTE are implemented to overcome the UE power saving challenges. The two trade-off metrics like power savings and delay constraints in the DRX mechanism is analyzed for better performance. In this paper the punctilious analysis of performance metrics of the 4 state DRX mechanisms incorporated with the On Time to Short cycle ratio (OTSC) is done. On varying the OTSC ratio, performance analysis is made for different OTSC ratios. The Simulation tool used is MATLAB R2014a.
