Abstract :
In the last few decades, the use of mobile phones have increased rapidly. Safety experts have considered dependency on mobile phones as a threat to the pedestrian safety. In this paper, a wearable smart-cap has been proposed to detect an obstacle in the path of a pedestrian mobile user. The vision of the proposed system is to provide a user-friendly, cost effective and a quick way to avoid pedestrian accidents due to mobile phones. The volunteers´ feedback and testing results have been outstanding. The volunteers have reported that the proposed system is user-friendly and accurate.
