Abstract :
Mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) is a special type of network that supports connectivity without any infrastructure and it faces many challenges such as high mobility rate of the nodes, resource constraint and the nodes work without any central administration. In Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET), the mobile devices have restricted resources such as limited battery power, so it is difficult for traditional routing protocols of MANET to face the challenge of heterogeneity. As there is restricted residual battery power in the mobile nodes and high mobility nature of the nodes in the network, there are many challenges in design of a power efficient protocol in MANET. Challenges such as heterogeneous nature of the network, higher scalability rate, cyber attacks on mobile nodes, high frequency of variable network topology are to be given attention for the design of robust protocol. This paper presents comparative analysis on performance of Adhoc On Demand Distant Vector (AODV) oriented MANET routing protocols strongly based on power aware techniques and which also support quality of service parameters and resource reservation strategies. The comparison is based on the type and extent of delay management techniques, Quality of service conditions and resource reservation methods used by these important protocols while minimizing the end to end delay during transmission. Secondly the paper also presents a comparative analysis on the improvement in throughput compared to normal AODV protocol.
