Abstract
The longitudinal dynamics of drift compression is studied for a space-charge-dominated beam is studied. A nonperiodic quadrupole lattice is designed for a beam undergoing drift compression, and an adiabatically-matched solution is found for the transverse envelope equations in the non-periodic lattice
