Abstract :
One of the main challenges that must be taken up by many industries in the coming years is to allow fast and flexible production of complex products that meet customer´s requirements in an optimised way. We present here a new research approach allowing ICT-supported engineering of complex products that consists in an optimised assembly of partially pre-defined solutions. This approach is based on a tightly integrated combination of two ICT technologies: Semantic Web technologies, for a parametric modelling of all information and knowledge, and Genetic Algorithms (GA), for an optimised configuration of products. With this approach we clearly show the innovative features compared to the state-of-the-art in both product modelling and GA-based optimisation separately.
