Abstract :
Compensation of reactive power is one of the most important factors in power system operation. At present, advanced technologies like Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) and Flexible AC Distribution System (FACDS) are being introduced in the modern power system to improve power system stability as well as for stable compensation of reactive power. FACTS and FACDS controllers are widely adopted into transmission systems, and distribution networks respectively. In this paper simulation and experimental results of two different topology of FC-TCR type SVC are proposed along with the analysis of classical FC-TCR SVC. The experiments are carried out to verify the simulation result of one of the two proposed configuration of FC-TCR. Finally, a comprehensive analysis on current-voltage characteristics and harmonic characteristics are reported in this paper.
