Abstract :
This study aims at proposing a model of a virtual learning resources center for the visually impaired based on international standards. An analytical de-scriptive approach was adopted to conduct this study, with a sample of 48 resource center specialists from Alkharj (33 males, and 15 females). The researcher used a questionnaire made of two sections, the first one is for the participants´ primary information (5 questions), and the second one is comprised of questions discussing the topic of this study (68 questions). Moreover, those questions discuss the following themes: 1. Identifying the educational needs of the learning resources center for the visually impaired. 2. Identifying the technology needed in a learning resources center for the visually impaired. 3. Identifying the required qualifications of a learning resources center specialist to better serve the visually impaired. 4. Proposing a model of a virtual learning resources center for the visually impaired based on international standards. A number of consultants in several relevant fields were asked to validate the questionnaire. The questions were designed to be answered according to the Likert triple scale (Agree=3, Slightly Agree= 2, Disagree=1), and most of the variables were of a positive nature. The questionnaire was also validated using the Cronbach´s Alpha reliability scale in SPSS. Consequently, The study concluded with a proposed model of a virtual learning resources center for the visually impaired based on international standards. The model is made of different units to meet the various educational needs of its user. In addition, the required qualifications of a learning resources center specialist were identified. Finally, a recommendation of the study was to adopt the topic of this study and apply it according to the already existing technology and staff. The researcher also named some of the limitations of this study with some suggested research topics supporting it.
