Abstract
This paper presents a novel approach using Equal incremental fuel cost (X) and Tie line matrix for solving the Multi-Area Economic Dispatch (MAED) problem with tie line loss. Incremental fuel cost (X) concept is introduced in this paper in order to evaluate the power to be transferred through tie lines from one area to another area in more economically and then Tie line matrix has been adopted to calculate the tie line power flow between the areas connected with tie line. The proposed approach has been tested on 4-area system with four generators in each area. The simulation results of the proposed method have been compared with the existing methods in literature and it is found that the results obtained from the present technique are better than the existing methods.
