  • Abstract
    In this paper a new priority based elimination technique (PBET) has been presented to obtain minimum number of phasor measurement unit (PMU) in power system network for full system observability. Power system network should be completely observable hence it´s required to have all bus data in real time. It is not neither necessary to have PMUs at each buses in network nor economical. The proposed method is based on simple algorithm without having any cost function. Four steps procedure has been discussed in detailed for IEEE-14, IEEE-24 and IEEE-30 bus system for selection of optimal PMU and results are compared with other techniques. Results show that PBET is compatible with other techniques of PMU placement.
