Empirical evaluation of hybrid filtering: An approach for speech enhancement

The speech enhancement technique used in this paper improves the quality of noisy speech. Speech is corrupted by different background noises hence quality of speech is degraded. The approach used in this paper enhances quality of speech using wiener filter. The combination of two dimensional and one dimensional wiener filter named hybrid wiener filter improves quality of noisy speech. The approach shown in this paper for speech enhancement shows that speech enhancement is transform dependent. This is presented in this paper by applying hybrid filter to transformed speech using DFT, DCT and DWT. The validation that hybrid filtering and transform domain dependency is presented using different objective quality measures.
