Abstract
Due to aging factor and variations in the atmospheric conditions, old historic images starts degrading. To preserve them effectively we have to convert them in digital format and apply image enhancement algorithms. In this paper comparison of two image enhancement algorithms have been done. Hybrid Binarization and Histogram Equalization method. Qualities of the enhanced images are being measured by image statistics like PSNR, Mean, and Standard deviation. Results show that Hybrid binarization method performs better than Histogram Equalization both in visual perception and image metrics values.
