Abstract :
A wideband planar monopole antenna for TV white space (TVWS) application in the band of 623MHz-860MHz is presented. Defected ground structure (DGS) is used for bandwidth enhancement and size reduction. The designed antenna has overall size of 128mm × 64mm which is comparable to portable devices like Smartphone. The proposed antenna has gains ranging from 1.4 to 2.1dBi which are fairly high for TVWS applications. Experimental result shows that antenna gives monopole-like omnidirectional radiation pattern and applicable to TVWS applications.
