Abstract :
Rapid growth in the use of VoIP applications increases the need for assessing quality of voice communication. The end users expect the same quality of service as traditional telephone system, which is circuit switched. Since the network is originally designed for data communication, VoIP users experience degradation in voice quality due to factors like latency, jitter, packet loss and bandwidth. So it is important to evaluate the performance of voice transmission and analyse packet loss. In this paper we analysed call flow between two endpoints to assess the quality of voice communication in Wi-Fi networks. Percentage of packet loss is analysed using a packet analyzer tool wireshark and also evaluated the voice quality using E-Model by calculating R factor.
