Abstract
Future generation wireless communication systems demand higher data rates and improved channel capacity. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system improves channel capacity with a certain requisite distance between individual antenna elements. Mobile terminals have limited space and demand more compact antenna system. Therefore multiport antennas are designed with small size and sufficient decoupling between the antenna ports. In this paper, a two port orthogonal fed circular microstrip antenna is presented, for 2.6 GHz LTE/WiMAX band (2.5-2.7 GHz), with measured bandwidth of 69 MHz supporting 4G applications. The performance of proposed antenna is evaluated based on simulated S-parameters, decoupling between the ports and diagram correlation coefficient between the radiation patterns of each port. A very good agreement was observed between simulated and measured results.
