Abstract :
This paper deals with measurement and analysis of the contact resistance of new designed battery connection. The main material of battery connection model is copper because of its high conductivity and high mechanical strength. For reducing electrical contact resistance on the copper conductor contact surfaces, the contact pressure at the junction was increased and the plating material with high conductivity and wide surface area was added on the copper junction. Silver and tin are chosen as copper plating material. Silver is chosen because of its high conductivity while tin is chosen because of its high surface contact area. The results showed that the copper junction with silver coating had the smallest contact resistance. The increase of the contact pressure reduced the contact resistance of the three battery connection types. The 8.4 MPa contact pressure gave the smallest contact resistance.
