Abstract :
Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), a biodegradable polymers of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) family´s, has gained importance in the industrial field in recent years by its physicochemical properties and has been considered as a possible substitute for petroleum-based plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene. This work contributes to the study of the growth of Cupriavidus necator DSM 545 basically oriented to maximizing productivity in obtaining PHB using agroindustrial residues as substrate. Modeling tools are used to achieve the objective, an actual system parameters are set and simulated to predict the dynamic behavior of the process in order to optimize production of the biopolymer from a low cost substrate.
