Abstract
This work depicts the design, validation and implementation of a data acquisition system for automatic control teaching. The system is designed to monitor analog signals through a laptop computer running a standard operating system. Unlike other systems, low-cost hardware is used while the communication with the computer is done through an USB port, granting the student accessibility and portability. Results show that hardware meets the desired requirements and the USB protocol is suitable for the communication, whereas the operating system defines the system performance.
