Abstract
A simplified diagonal cross-correlation frequency estimation algorithm based on phase un-wrapping method (PUW-SDCC) is proposed for pilot-symbol-assisted-modulation (PSAM) short burst-mode carrier synchronization. A diagonal cross correlation (DCC) algorithm is first designed by means of the idea of auto-correlation estimation. Further, a simplified DCC (SDCC) algorithm is derived from the principle of Taylor series expansion of exponent approximation of a complex signal. A PUW-SDCC algorithm is finally obtained by combining with phase un-wrapping (PUW). Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can estimate the frequency offset as large as half of the data rate with both high accuracy and moderate complexity than the existing ones, which can be applied to the short burst-mode systems with large frequency offset.
