Abstract :
It is important for the distributed generators in the Microgrid to ensure reliable power supply to the loads when integrated into the grid. When connected to grid, each distributed generator works in constant current control mode in order to provide a set power to the load. When the distributed generator is cut off from the grid, each distributed generator must detect this islanding situation and must switch to constant voltage control mode. In this mode, the distributed generator will provide a constant voltage to the local load. This paper reviews a control strategy used for a generator to implement grid-connected and intentional-islanding operation of a Microgrid. It has been simulated in MATLAB. The performance of the system has been validated for unity and lagging power factor load. This control strategy has been used for analyzing the power flow between the Microgrid and the large grid.
