Abstract :
Speech enhancement is most popular area of research nowadays. But the information which is speech signal that is transmitted from source to destination, would not receive as it is. Some kind of distortions, noise would get added into it. Because of this quality of speech gets reduced. So in order to avoid this, it is necessary that this added noise should get removed. So this elimination of tainted noise and improving the overall quality of a speech signal is speech enhancement. This paper describes the different noise reduction techniques which are based on wavelet transform. The paper mainly focused on thresholding methods that are being used for noise reduction in speech. GUI is also implemented to analyze the signals easily.
