Abstract
This paper presents a new tuning rule for series cascade control scheme for open loop stable and integrating process models with time delay. A filter dead time compensator scheme has been incorporated in the primary loop of series cascade control structure to improve the servo response and regulatory response. Internal Model Control approach has been used to design the secondary loop controller. Routh Hurwitz stability criterion is used to design the primary loop controller. To select the time constants of the filters, guidelines are provided. Simulation results demonstrate the satisfactory closed loop performance for both nominal and perturbed process parameters of the proposed method.
