Abstract :
We report on recent and planned brightness improvements at the Advanced Photon Source storage ring. These involve changes in storage ring optics and recent ideas for insertion devices. The storage ring emittance will decrease from 8 nm-rad to 3.5 nm-rad. The ratio of vertical to horizontal emittances can be made at least as low as 0.5% based on past experience, but 0.25% could probably be achieved in the new lattice. The possibility of increasing the available length for undulators is explored.
