Abstract :
The exploitation of grids has witnessed a rapid increase during the last years. Indeed, a grid fault has repercussions on the quality of energy produced and transmitted to the users and thus on its stability. Consequently, regulators are installed to restore the stability and improve the performance of the power system. The present study aims at determining the optimal location of the PSS installed at the input of the AVR based on the participation matrix. The calculation of the parameters of these regulators is carried out by the method of Residues. The PSS are, thanks to their effectiveness and low cost, the usual means not only to eliminate the negative effects of the voltage regulators, but also to reduce the electromechanical oscillations of the system. Moreover, the damping ensured by PSS makes it even possible to the system to function beyond the stability limit in a balanced state. The various results of simulation, realized under the PSAT environment, show the performance of the regulators integrated at the level of the synchronous generators.
