Abstract :
Design of a microstrip fed double exponentially tapered Vivaldi antenna is presented for the 2-18 GHz ultra-wideband applications. Wideband operation is obtained by integrating a compact ultra-wideband balun with the antenna through an impedance transformer. Rectangular dimension of the feeding network including the balun and the matching section fabricated on a 0.813 mm thick RO4003C substrate is 100.2 mm × 82.75 mm. Measured results show that the overall input reflection loss is below 10 dB over 2-18 GHz. The antenna also maintains good gain characteristics over this band.
