Abstract :
A new metallic capped inhomogeneous hybrid hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna has been investigated as an ultra-wideband antenna. The proposed structure offers 170% bandwidth with an operational bandwidth ranging from 4.7-60 GHz, significantly improving the impedance bandwidth compared to that of available open literature. The designed antenna has been fed by coaxial cable of standard dimensions. This hybrid DRA structure is simulated using CST Microwave Studio Suite 2014. Its detailed design strategy, frequency and time domain characterization has been discussed with simulated results.
