  • Abstract
    In this paper, design of a compact penta-band CPW-fed monopole antenna using metamaterial-inspired resonator loading concepts is presented. Five operating frequency bands are achieved in the proposed antenna by placing a dual-band LC resonator near the CPW-fed monopole and etching out an interdigital capacitor (IDC) from the radiating monopole arm. Ansys HFSS simulation results confirm that the proposed antenna has quasi-monopolar pattern and satisfactory radiation efficiency in all the working bands. Results from measurements on a fabricated prototype of the proposed antenna support the claims of full-wave simulation.
