Abstract :
The impact of wind energy is inevitable in modern day power system. With the increase in load demand the need of wind energy is increasing day by day. But grid connected wind farm suffers from a voltage sag after any line fault. This voltage sag can be eliminated with the help of FACTS devices. This paper describes the use of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) in a grid connected wind farm to maintain stable voltage after a fault. In this paper a STATCOM model and a Wind Farm has been designed using MATLAB SIMULINK software. The simulation results obtained from the model is used to observe the effect of transient disturbance caused due to the fault on the grid connected wind energy conversion system WECS.
