Abstract :
Deregulation of power system brought huge competition among the sellers and buyers of electricity market where all the parties try to gain their profit, hence it is quite important for grid or independent system operator (ISO) to maintain smooth flow of electric power without violating its security level and satisfies customers with reasonable cost. Power system transmission congestion occurs due to the violation of its thermal limit. In this paper, along with generator rescheduling technique renewable energy source like wind farm has been introduced as a congestion management problem solver. Bus sensitivity factor (BSF) has been introduced here to find out optimal location of wind farm whereas generator sensitivity factor (GSF) determines the number of participating generators for rescheduling their output. At last optimization technique like Firefly Algorithm (FA) has been adopted for generator rescheduling process along with wind firm. This method is applied in IEEE 39 bus New England Test System.
