Abstract
A tri-band MIMO antenna operating in WLAN 2.4/5.2/5.8GHz bands and WiMAX 2.5/3.5/5.5GHz bands is presented in this paper. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two CPW-fed antenna elements and a P-shaped patch. The two antenna elements have high isolations which are over 28dB in the WLAN 5.2/5.8GHz bands and WiMAX 3.5/5.5GHz bands and over 30 dB in the WLAN 2.4GHz band and WiMAX 2.5GHz band. The high isolations are achieved by arranging the two CPW-fed antennas perpendicularly and adding the additional parasitic element (the P-shaped patch) between the two elements. The return loss, isolation, current distribution and radiation patterns of the proposed MIMO antenna are investigated by using HFSS software. The results show that the proposed MIMO antenna can cover the whole WLAN and WiMAX bands and has good isolation characteristic, which can well meet the WLAN and WiMAX applications.
