Abstract :
This paper focuses on the satellite antenna gain measurement system based on comparison method. Gain is the most important performance parameter of an antenna. However, in many practical situations it is not possible to measure or calculate the gain of an antenna. Comparison method in this paper means using standard antenna to calculate the gain of antenna under test (AUT), which has advantages in accuracy, operability and range of applicability. Examples of measuring gain of 7.3 m diameter satellite antenna are given. Comparative analysis between comparison method and half-power beamwidth method, which is international general method for antenna gain measurement, is carried out. The analysis shows that comparison method is feasible.
