Abstract :
Localization is now a vital issue widely applied in many applications. Received signal strength (RSS) based localization scheme is of great importance due to its simplicity and low cost features. However, conventional RSS based scheme under the path loss model requires calibration of path loss exponent and the source transmission power, which calls for additional hardware and software. Still, the target has to take a cooperative attitude towards localization, which is not practical for target like the source of interference. In this paper, we consider a non-cooperative localization problem without prior knowledge about the transmission power of the source and the path loss exponent. Therefore, we propose a novel least square (LS) based curve fitting approach to realize target localization. The key idea is that no extra hardware or interaction from the target is needed. Moreover, the impact of obstacles in the sensing fields is also analyzed. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
