Abstract
The self-consistent treatment of a space-charge-dominated beam is generalized for the case of a relativistic bunch. Analytical derivations are performed in the limit of a high brightness beam. The shape of the stationary bunch profile as well as expression for the space charge limited beam current are derived. The applicability of a wellknown ellipsoidal model for the bunched beam in an RF field is discussed
