  • Abstract
    The amount of data traffic over the Internet has grown remarkably. The photonic multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) router (PR) has been developed to control this burgeoning amount of traffic. It incorporates optical network elements that have a generalized MPLS (GMPLS) signaling capability and an IP forwarding processor. This paper presents issues regarding path control development and describes a successful demonstration of the router capabilities.
