Abstract
The paper treats the stability problem of a synchronous generator connected to an infinite bus. Due to the time consuming tuning of a conventional power system stabilizer and its nonoptimal damping in the entire operating range, adaptive control is proposed. Presented is the adaptive power system stabilizer derived from the model reference adaptive control for "almost strictly positive real" systems. Results show the applicability of the presented approach.
