  • Abstract
    In this paper a short historical account concerning modem development is presented. An extensive table summarizing the ITU Recommendations V.21 to V.34 is given and commented on. The basic modem features are analysed. Some results from original experiments are also commented on. The Recommendation V.90 concerning the 56 K modem is briefly discussed.
