Abstract
Future wireless and mobile network environments are expected to support multimedia applications. However, the QoS (quality of service) requirements cannot be easily satisfied due to the characteristics of wireless links and host mobility. We introduce the concept of a minimum bandwidth guaranteed service as a wireless and a mobile network service. Our service model guarantees only minimum bandwidth with which minimum tolerable quality can be obtained, and shares the leftover bandwidth fairly among all data flows. We present a packet scheduling method for the services, and show the method can meet minimum bandwidth requirements by simulation. In addition, we implement it over a wireless LAN.
