Abstract :
The EUTELSAT wideband DAMA service (EWDS) proposes a space segment charge that can be either on a permanent lease (PAMA) mode or on-demand (DAMA) mode which aims at leasing space segment capacity on a consumption basis. Operators can benefit from a hybrid operation mode, PAMA and DAMA, which can be the most cost-effective method to operate a wideband network. The platforms chosen for EWDS are either the Comsat Linkway or the Nortel DASA ABCS Skywan systems. These two systems can support all the main private networks protocols (ATM, frame relay, Ethernet, ISDN and SS7) as well as furnishing a low cost IP connectivity for high bandwidth Internet/intranet access.
