Abstract :
In this paper, a comparative analysis of impact of different parts of the power network on the harmonic content of the voltage at the node with a STATCOM is presented. Considered models of a power system and STATCOM are described. The scope of investigation and the method of harmonic distortion analysis are outlined. Results of simulation experiments have been accumulated for this analysis. Simulation investigations were conducted using PSCAD/EMTDC electromagnetic transients simulation program. The voltage total harmonic distortion factor has been calculated for different parameters and operating conditions of the considered system. At the end of the paper, conclusions from investigations are presented.
