Abstract
This paper presents a procedure based on the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, for efficiently solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, which has a stable solution called soliton. The numerical routines were implemented in the program for numerically solving a nonlinear Schrodinger equation, written using the computer software MATLAB, which enables observation of solitons, includes losses and third-order dispersion and gives a graphical representation of soliton propagation in two and three dimensions.
