  • Abstract
    A design method of a hybrid repeater configuration with an EDFA and a distributed Raman amplifier is presented and the resultant experiment of a 1.28 Tbit/s (64 × 20 Gbit/s) transmission over 4200 km with 100 km repeater spacing is demonstrated using the CS-RZ (carrier-suppressed return-to-zero) format and "OSWSuper FEC" line bit-rate.
