Abstract :
The factorization of rational spectral matrices arises in the analysis and design of linear systems via transfer function techniques. The paper presents a survey of major computational methods for factorization applicable to discrete-time problems. The properties of the resulting procedures are discussed and guidelines are provided for the user.
