Abstract :
In a microlens-based free-space optical interconnect, it is usually assumed that the arrangement of transmitters, microlenses and receivers in their respective arrays is "square". This paper shows that it is possible to improve the optical signal-to-noise ratio by up to 50% by slightly altering the array geometry.
