  • Abstract
In this paper, the authors established analytical formulas describing the influence of the viscosity and elasticity of a viscoelastic liquid on the parameters of a vibrating cylindrical resonator, i.e., its resonant frequency and mechanical quality factor. To this end, the authors employed an original perturbation method applied to the shear vibrations of a cylindrical resonator loaded with a viscoelastic liquid. Consequently, it was possible to measure simultaneously the viscosity /spl eta/ and shear storage modulus /spl mu/ of viscoelastic liquids.
