Abstract :
A new architecture for self-routing switching networks is presented in the paper. This switching network is called a multi-log/sub 2//spl radic/N switching network, and it is composed of /spl lceil/log/sub 2//spl radic/N/spl rceil/ stages. We have proved the strict-sense nonblocking conditions for these networks. It is shown that for N < 128 the proposed architecture requires less switching elements than nonblocking multi-log/sub 2/N switching networks proposed by Lea (1990). We also consider a stacked switching network, which is based on stacked banyan switching networks proposed by Kraimeche (2000). Also in this case the proposed architecture requires less switching elements than the stacked-banyan.
