Abstract :
Variations of temperature coefficients of permittivity epsilon /sub 33//sup T/, elastic compliances at constant electric fields s/sub 11//sup E/, and constant polarization s/sub 11//sup P/ with a Zr/Ti ratio of Pb(Zr/sub x/Ti/sub 1-x/)O/sub 3/ and Pb((Sb/sub 1/3/Mn/sub 2/3/)/sub 0.05/Zr/sub x/Ti/sub 0.95-x/)O/sub 3/ solid solutions, were investigated. Relations between temperature coefficients of epsilon /sub 33//sup T/, S/sub 11//sup E/, and S/sub 11//sup P/ were theoretically derived; a discrepancy was found between theoretical relations and experimental results. On the basis of the observed discrepancy, it is proposed that some extrinsic effects arising from the motion of interphase boundaries between the tetragonal and the rhombohedral phases which exist in grains contribute to values of both elastic compliances.
